Design Experience

2004–Present:

Web Designer and Developer: Office of Communications; College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES); UGA
Led the redesign and restructure of the college’s web pages; developed CSS-based, 508 compliant templates for distribution to college web developers; authored style guides and other technical documents; provided guidance and coaching to web editors through face-to-face training and telephone support; investigated new ways to approach delivery of web content; trained coworkers on various web-based applications and software; established protocols for a content management system; and developed new applications to fulfill college needs. Sample projects include Impact Statements, a CD-Rom highlighting the work of land-grant universities; Walk Georgia, an online program promoting physical activity throughout the state; and Print-on-demand, an online ordering system for Cooperative Extension publications.

2002–2004:

Designer: Communications; University Health Center; UGA
Provided up-to-date health information for UGA students online, ensured graphic consistency of webpage via established standards, implemented interactive elements, increased traffic to chosen site pages, highlighted promotional events, incorporated methods to collect data from users, and modified pre-existing graphics for various applications. Educated and trained staff on Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and graphic design principles. Produced print materials for brochures, promotions, and displays.

2002–2004:

Flash Developer: Institute for Online Training and Instructional Systems; Athens Technical College
Increased Department of Family and Child Services (DFCS) case worker comprehension of state policy through interactive learning. Developed logical, interesting, and visually stimulating instructional modules for previously static HTML pages. Learned new technology for distance education. Taught Flash concepts to coworkers.

2001–2004:

Flash Developer: Education, Communication, and Technology; CAES; UGA
Produced Diabetes Academy and Focus on Diabetes, interactive CD-Roms on care and management of diabetes. Collaborated with team members to add interest and interactivity to basic lesson materials authored by dietitians. Created visually stimulating and innovative interactions to teach difficult medical and health concepts. Provided art direction to illustrator and film editor. Authored technical and help documents to accompany CD-Rom. Established and adhered to specific design standards.

2003–2004:

Flash Developer: Cooperative Extension Service; CAES; UGA
Developed, designed, illustrated, and animated an instructional module to teach 4-H food lab judges important concepts relative to food preparation. Incorporated method of tracking user participation.

2003:

Instructional Designer: Biology Department; UGA
Created interface for CD-Rom to replace traditional paper-based biology lab manual. Brainstormed various navigational concepts, information architecture, and technical capabilities. Incorporated various multimedia elements into an easy-to-use format. Provided technical support and templates to biology professor.

2000–2002:

Web Designer: Academic Affairs; CAES; UGA
Art directed, organized, implemented, designed, programmed, and maintained multiple websites from inception. Projects ranged from informational sites to educational materials. Presented at workshop on student recruitment. Taught web design concepts to staff members.
